GR makes RedLine Time Attack Debut

Gardella Racing made their debut in the RedLine Time Attack series at Englishtown Raceway Park in Old Bridge NJ on August 29 and 30^th.  The team ran a slightly upgraded Pontiac Solstice in the modified class and ended the event in 2^nd place.  For his first time racing in another form of automotive racing outside of drift, Ryan Tuerck drove phenomenal; improving his lap times every heat.  The team used a street tire on the Solstice placing them with a disadvantage compared to the other competitors who used a road race tire or slick.  If the team had on a different tire, Tuerck would have had a two second improvement that could have given the camp the win.

Despite bad rain storms on Saturday that flooded the track and canceled practice, the event went well.  Sunday’s sun dried up the track and it cleared up even faster once the cars started to make laps.  “I was very happy how everything turned out,” started Gardella.  “We went to the event with one goal and it was to get Ryan some extra seat time.  He ended up getting over 80 laps on the road course,” continued Gardella.  “I have a few other things in mind for Ryan during this down time between Formula D events.  I am looking to have him in a go kart to run an event or two.  Believe it or not, karting will teach him a lot of the racing basics.  Also, I would like to see him in a dirt modified car.  At this point, I have nothing locked in, but I am working on something for either New Egypt Speedway or Bridge Port Speedway, both here in NJ.”

Gardella Racing’s next stop will be at Irwindale Speedway in CA for the Formula D final round of the 2009 season.  Gardella Racing is 2^nd in the points race and is looking to move into the number one spot during this event to take the FD championship.  It is a close top five points chase and Irwindale will prove to be an exciting and edgy event.
